You are so right about museums. They all have wonderful gift shops. I also like the Science Museum for mischief type presents such as Intruder Alarms (tells children when an alien invader, ie, mum and dad, enters their room). And the Natural History museum, unsurprisingly, does a good line in dinosaur toys. More commercial institutions, alas, don't have the present knack. London Aquarium, for example, it's all soft toys as far as the eye can see.

I looove the V&A shop, they really have great stuff. The Tate Modern shop is also amazing and I can't wait until my son is a little older so that he cas start taking part of all the great events they have for kids!

Hazelnut, the Tate Modern is definitely one of my very favourite museum shops too!

Missy, I used to feel guilty about that too...not anymore. :)
