London Mums

Welcome to a new feature on Urban Mums: The London Mums Project. Each week you’ll find a new interview from one London mum. She’ll share her top kid-friendly spots, favourite shops, and what she does to unwind. As readers, we'll hopefully gain new inspiration regarding all there is to do in this great city & perhaps share a comment or two along the way.

Our first interview features Janine of the popular parenting blog, 21st Century Mummy.

Janine says: I am a Fulham mum with a beautiful two-year-old daughter. After 10 years in marketing and PR, I realised there was more to life than climbing the corporate ladder. So, I quit my day job to spend more time with my daughter and be a freelance writer. I also write a parenting blog 21st Century Mummy, which features everything about life as a modern day mum: stories, news, top tips, best (and worst) products, advice and opinions, shopping, holidays and travel with young children.

Your favourite neighbourhood spot?
Fulham Palace - it's got a lovely cafe, huge grass area and is near a playground.

An ideal day out with your daughter?
Do something outdoors when the weather (e.g. meet up with other mums/toddlers and go for a picnic).

And if you're up for a trek across London?
Westminster to the Aquarium or Knightsbridge to the Science Museum.

The child-related product you cannot live without?

There are lots! But the Bugaboo is fantastic.

Your favourite place to shop for children's clothes and toys?
Harrods, Jo Jo Maman Bebe, Vertbaudet.

Everyon's hungry and you can't be bothered to cook. Where do you go?
Del Aziz or Strada - both in Fulham.

Your favourite London discovery?
Konnigans in Wandsworth Village. It's a great place to take children for brunch.

You're taking a break from being a mummy. What do you do?
If I'm not doing chores, then I'd probably have a massage or do lunch with another mum.

Favourite place to shop for yourself?
Harvey Nichols.

Your must-read blog list?
Violet PosyAngels and UrchinsMindful MumRosie Scribble.

Next week we'll hear from the mum of one of my favourite brands. Stay tuned...
