I'm thrilled a new farmer's market opened last weekend in my local area, St John's Wood. There's nothing quite like shopping around a farmer's market for fresh, delicious food that is both locally and responsibly sourced. Plus, these markets bring a friendly, neighbourly atmosphere too, and that's pretty amazing to create in the middle of a big city (although London often feels like a string of beautiful villages all joined up together).
My favourite item was the loaf of sourdough bread we picked up from The Artisan Bakery (their brownies were delicious too). Although, seeing my kids handpick fresh, free-range eggs and place them in the container was pretty novel too (and they tasted great the next morning).
I can't wait until next week, and high up on my list of things to buy are english strawberries, asparagus and more of that delicious sourdough bread. What do you like to buy from your local market?
